Only A Pavement Away

Only a Pavement Away is a charity founded by representatives from the hospitality industry who believe that everyone deserves the chance to find and forge a career. Its aim is to act as a conduit to employment to help those people struggling to get into work, overcome hurdles by finding jobs within the hospitality, pub and restaurant industry, whilst negating the need for people to face an existence of living on the streets.

The charity was established on World Homeless Day 2018, by Greg and Gill Mangham to find employment in the hospitality industry for those facing homelessness, prison leavers and veterans. 85p of every £1 donated goes to supporting its members and the charity has placed 210 people back into work since 2018. By doing so Only a Pavement Away has added c. £4 million to the economy. It has ambitious plans to continue that growth at a pace in 2022.

Only A Pavement Away relies on donations to raise the funds it needs to build its team and help create more pathways to employment. Funding also maintains and provides a robust job application and follow up process, provides training and support and most importantly, offers a stability grant to support those members who need some short-term help with rent, travel and clothing during their transition back into society.

The Wine and Spirit Trade Association (WSTA)

The WSTA represents over 300 companies producing, importing, exporting, transporting and selling wines and spirits in the United Kingdom.

WSTA members range from major retailers, brand owners and wholesalers to fine wine and spirit specialists, logistics and bottling companies.

We campaign for a vibrant and sustainable wine and spirit industry, helping to build a future in which alcohol is produced, sold and enjoyed responsibly.

Sommelier Wine Awards

The Sommelier Wine Awards (SWA) is a wine competition with a difference. As the UK’s only on-trade wine competition, it focuses entirely on wines aimed at the on-trade. Wines with general distribution on the high street are not permitted to enter, except for sparkling and fortified wines, or merchants' online-exclusive wines.

Since the competition started in 2007 it has grown to become the first point of reference for the UK's on-trade wine buyers as well as the main competition for wines trying to increase their presence in hotels, pubs, bars and restaurants across the world.

The judges are carefully selected by SWA and include Master Sommeliers and Masters of Wine who all serve or buy wine for their venues in the on-trade, or are leading consultants developing wine lists.
