British celebrity-endorsed drinks brands to try

In the last decade, particularly the last few years, there’s been an influx of celebrities who have launched their own drinks brands. And, they’ve been using their highly-followed social media platforms as a springboard for success in the world of drinks.

From Ryan Reynolds and George Clooney to Dwayne Johnson, Kendall Jenner and more, celebrities have been filling the shelves. Their products range from luxury spirits such as tequila, whisky, gin and vodka, all the way to organic wines.

Flush with new flavours that can be backed by some of the biggest names, the sheer variety of the drinks industry holds appeal for celebrities who are looking to use their media power to promote and advertise these luxurious drinks brands and, by extension, generate huge profits.

It’s all about lifestyle, branding and consumer behaviour. So, with these in mind, we’ve put together a list of six British celebrities and their associated drinks brands.

Sassenach Scotch Whisky – Sam Heughan

Launched by Sam Heughan (aka Jamie Fraser on hit TV show Outlander) Sassenach Whisky is inspired by the picturesque Highland landscapes with flavours of honey, vanilla fudge, raisin, almond and cinnamon.

Released in 2020 and made by Loch Lomond Whiskies, the blended Scotch can be considered an international success, winning multiple awards including Double Gold at the 2022 San Francisco World Spirits Competition for the third year running.

Invivo’s GN Range - Graham Norton

Invivo Wines, a New Zealand based wine company, have for the last decade partnered with TV celebrity and shareholder Graham Norton to create a range of wines. The range includes a New Zealand Sauvignon Blanc and Rosé, a South Australian Shiraz, an Argentinean He-Devil Red Blend and an Italian DOC Prosecco and DOC Rosé Prosecco.

However, it’s not all about wine in the world of Graham Norton endorsed beverages. 2019 saw the launch of Graham’s own gin, which draws on his West Cork Heritage by partnering with Irish distillery, West Cork Distillers, and using locally foraged botanicals to create three small-batch premium gins.

Della Vite – The Delevigne Sisters

In 2020 Poppy, Cara and Chloe Delevigne, known for their work in the world of fashion, launched their prosecco brand called Della Vite, centred around the key ideas of female friendship, sisterhood and sustainability.

These high-quality Proseccos are priced affordably and are both vegan and sustainably produced. The Delevigne sisters have teamed up with a third-generation wine-making family in Valdobbiadene, in Northern Italy, to create this sustainable prosecco made in a solar-powered winery with 100% vegan processes and ingredients. The prosecco is then fermented for an extra 30 days ‘to create smooth, creamy bubbles.’

Organic Wines - Gary Barlow

Joining Graham Norton in the wine world is Gary Barlow, who launched his organic wine brand ‘Gary Barlow Organic’ in 2021 with a red and white wine, both from Spain which Gary worked closely with winemakers to create.

Sustainability is a core component of this brand, as well as his personal connections to Spain. The red wine is described as rich and smooth with layers of damson, cocoa, rosemary and cranberries, while the white is pale and bright with notes of lime and pear.

Haig Club - David Beckham

2014 saw the creation of whisky brand Haig club, backed by famous footballer David Beckham, who describes that “Haig Club is all about making your own rules and breaking the stereotypes associated with drinking Scotch.”

Owned by Diageo, Haig whisky has actually been around for 400+ years since it was founded by the Haig family. The whisky is matured in American ex-bourbon casks, allowing the sweet, gentle Single Grain Scotch Whisky to interact with the vanilla, butterscotch and sweet toffee flavours of the casks.

Próspero Tequila - Rita Ora

Popstar Rita Ora has teamed up with long-time distiller Stella Anguiano, one of Mexico’s leading female Master Distillers, to create Próspero, a hand-crafted spirit that combines the sweetness of agave with a smooth and luxurious spicy finish.

Time, effort, tradition and authenticity are key elements that go towards creating this easy to drink, female-lead tequila brand. The distilling process is carried out completely by hand, all the way from the bottle and illustrated label to the flavoursome liquid inside.
