The Tapsters

  • The Tapsters 2018 is open for entries!

Think your place has the best beer & cider team in the country? Prove it!

The Tapsters, the nation’s liveliest bar team competition, returns in partnership with Franciscan Well, The Beer & Cider Academy and UKHospitality.

This contest champions people around the country who not only know their beers and ciders but also understand how to look after them, and how to serve and sell them.

Entries can come from one establishment, or from a group, so gather up a team of four and appoint a Captain. Pubcos and restaurant groups can enter more than one team. While the individuals involved in the 2017 Final are not eligible to enter, their companies are welcome to enter a different team.

The victors will win an all-expenses paid trip to Cork in Ireland, home of Franciscan Well and its flagship IPA, Chieftain, as well as £500 spending money.

Beer sommelier Annabel Smith will MC the Final at Imbibe Live on 3 July, with both the audience and an expert panel led by award-winning writer Pete Brown casting their votes.

  • The Franciscan Well Tapsters’ trip for team and manager includes return flights from Heathrow to Cork plus overnight accommodation on a shared basis. The winners will enjoy a brewery tour with head brewer Peter Lyall, a tasting and dinner at the Franciscan Well brewpub. For those who want to explore further there will be a Pub Safari itinerary on offer plus time on the second day to explore the foodie mecca that is Cork.
