Delegate Profile

Guy Sarton du Jonchay

Company NameVidal Fleury

Guy Sarton du Jonchay does not come from a family of winegrowers, but his origins are multicultural. His background is both French and Argentinean – two great winegrowing countries – predisposing him to become a wine lover.

He is an engineer in agronomy and a qualified winemaker from the University of Montpellier. Following his studies, he continued his training in both hemispheres, including with Château Clarke (Listrac), followed by a period in Mendoza, the famous winegrowing area of Argentina, where he fell in love with the vineyard and with the area’s approach to winemaking. He finished off his tour in Australia.

Guy went on to work for Fingrapp, a Southern Hemisphere wine importer in Paris, and later on for Producteurs Plaimont in Southwest France, as a Research and Development Engineer. He pursued his career in Bordeaux, as the Purchasing and Production Manager for Barton & Guestier, then in the Languedoc and the Rhône Valley at the service of Chais Beaucairois before becoming the head of Vidal-Fleury in 2008, where he elaborates the entire wine selection. All of these jobs have required technical expertise and winemaking know-how.
