Joe Schofield arrived in Asia for the first time in 2016 as the Head Bartender of Singapore’s award-winning restaurant- bar, Tippling Club, led by chef-owner Ryan Clift. Fresh off his stint as barman at London’s prestigious The Savoy, the 27- year-old Briton celebrates his multi-continental career by adding a fifth major city to his growing portfolio.

Joe was a contemporary art student in university when he fell in love with bartending, and quickly decided on a career switch. He established himself as one of London’s bartenders-to-watch, leading to placements at internationally renowned cocktail bars such as The Zetter Townhouse, London; and The American Bar (No. 2, The World’s 50 Best Bars 2016) and Beaufort Bar at The Savoy.

He most recently took his place as an International Bartender of the Year top 10 contender in the Tales of the Cocktail’s 2017 Spirited Awards.

Shortly after settling in, Joe introduced Tippling Club’s latest memory-triggering cocktail programme—the Sensorium Menu. Conceived together with chef Ryan, the Sensorium Menu delivers an olfactory drinking experience that translates a plethora of carefully curated scents into rousing memories and emotions through 12 unique cocktails. The menu has since won the plaudits of industry experts and bartending authorities alike, paving the way to a prestigious top 10 spot in the World’s Best Cocktail Menu category of the Tales of the Cocktail’s 2017 Spirited Awards.

Since joining Tippling Club, Joe has gone ahead to lead the charge in racking up an impressive mantel of accolades for the bar in 2017—rising to No. 31 in The World’s 50 Best Bars, bringing home the title of Best International Restaurant Bar at the Tales of the Cocktail’s 2017 Spirited Awards as Singapore’s only winning entry, and being named Best Restaurant Bar for a second consecutive year at The Bar Awards Singapore.

At Tippling Club, Joe seeks to push the boundaries of modern-day cocktail culture by putting forth creative and conceptual libations that not only stand on their own, but also complement chef Ryan’s avant-garde cuisine with innovative pairing permutations.
