South African wine tasting with the legendary Adi Badenhorst
Adi Badenhorst, award-winning winemaker, member of the Cape Winemakers Guild and founding member of the Swartland Revolution will be taking to the stage on Monday 4th July at Imbibe Live.
Badenhorst will be hosting a unique tasting of some of South Africa's finest wines, talking from his own experience of making wines on 60 hectares in the Paardeberg.
He has been involved in wine from a young age and in 1999 he landed the job of winemaker at Rustenberg Wines, where he made brilliant, award-winning wines for seven years. He then set up his family winery in the Swartland, South Africa's most exciting wine-producing region.
He is now one of the leading players in 'The Swartland Revolution' a group of pioneering winemakers, including Eben Sadie, Chris and Andrea Mullineux, and Callie Louw, making wines from the amazing raw materials that are part of the Swartland's grape-growing legacy – a legacy that dates back centuries.
Of all the ‘New Wave’ Cape crusaders, it is Badenhorst who is pushing the boundaries farthest with his ever-growing range of fascinating beverages, which now boasts a vin jaune-style white, a Barbarossa, a sparkling ‘funky’ white, Caperitif vermouth, and a delicious cardamom and lime laced tonic water called Swaan.
